Joe Marcy Bio

I’m a Manhattan Beach native that cares deeply about our community.

I currently serve on the Parking and Public Improvement Commission (PPIC).

We recently supported traffic calming measures on Oak Avenue.  Our commission has reviewed improvements to infrastructure, traffic and safety.

I’m the former Chair of the Cultural Arts Commission and former President of the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair Association.  I’ve been a part of the Fair Board for over 14 years.  During Covid, we fundraised and distributed 30+ grants/scholarships to local booster clubs and non-profits.

I also serve on the Board of Directors for Mychal’s Learning Place.  The organization provides support, training, and opportunities to youth and young adults with developmental disabilities to build their independence and pursue their goals and dreams.

As Senior Executive for See Monterey, I contribute to the destination’s diversity, sustainability and tourism efforts and I’m a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Incentive Travel Professional (CITP) and Certified Meeting Management (CMM) professional.  Collaborate Magazine recognized me in their “40 under 40” issue.

I’ve spoken to large scale crowds on:

  • Bridging Generations, Practicing Vulnerability and Leading with Empathy
  • A Conversation on Inclusion
  • Global Town Hall
  • Elevating Your Career
  • Transportation Trends
  • Collaboration, Vision and Best Practices

I worked closely with the “Best of Manhattan” committee to recognize hospitality/line workers at the chamber’s annual awards dinner.
